CNC Folding
Bending on CNC press brakes for accurate angles and repeatable results. Turn a flat laser-cut blank into a bracket, channel or enclosure.
What is CNC folding?
CNC folding uses a computer-controlled press brake to bend sheet metal along the bend lines in your design. The machine controls the angle and position of every bend, so each part in a batch comes out the same.
In the Partspark uploader you mark bend lines on their own layer, then set the angle, radius and direction for each one. The 3D preview shows the folded part before you order.
How folding works on the platform
Everything you need to specify is set in the uploader
Define bends
Set angle, radius and direction for each bend line in your file
Bends per part
Brackets, channels, boxes and enclosures from one flat pattern
Materials
Mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel
Pricing
Each bend adds a folding operation and the price updates as you go
Designing for folding
Keep holes clear of bend lines
Holes and cut-outs close to a bend distort when the part is folded. The uploader warns you when a feature is too close.
Bend radius follows thickness
The minimum inside radius cannot be smaller than the material thickness. The uploader enforces this when you set each bend.
Check the guides
The DXF and SVG preparation guides cover layer names for bend lines and how flanges are measured. Read the design guides
Common Applications
